What is a “Blue Peel?”
The Obagi Blue Peel uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA) as the active
ingredient mixed with the patented Blue Base from Obagi. The Blue
Base improves patient safety by visually indicating the TCA solution
strength and facial skin coverage to ensure an even application.
This medium-depth peel effectively removes the epidermis down to the
dermis, removing the aged and damaged skin from the face. These dead
skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin’s own
clarity and tightness to resurface. Peeling will begin within 2 to 3
days. This peeling will continue over the next several days and the
skin should heal in an average of 7 to 10 days.
How do I prepare my skin prior to the peel?
For optimal results, we require using the Obagi Nu-Derm system 6
weeks prior to the Blue Peel. This prepares the skin and allows the
peel to penetrate deeper for enhanced results.
What will I expect during the procedure?
Our Estheticians will apply the Obagi Blue Peel based on your level
of skin damage and your desired level of transformation. The
procedure takes less than an hour and does not usually require
sedation. Your skin care professional will apply the Blue Peel
typically to your face and neck. A mild burning sensation will occur
that generally lasts only a few minutes. A handheld fan with be
provided for optimal comfort.
How will my skin look after the Blue Peel?
You may experience a bluish tint to your skin that usually washes
off in 12 to 24 hours. Our Estheticians will advise you on how many
peels are needed to give you the desired result.
Depending on the strength and depth of the peel, you will experience
light swelling following the procedure. Within 2 to 3 days, your
skin will begin to peel. This peeling continues over the next
several days. By Days 7 to 10, your skin should be healed.
Once your skin has completely recovered and is finished peeling, you
will notice a visible improvement in your complexion. Your skin's
appearance should continue to improve for the next 4 to 6 weeks,
becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier, and more youthful
looking. We recommend continuing your Obagi products to prolong your
results.
